Claudia Ceseña

Claudia Ceseña is the Staff Attorney at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, where she plays an essential role in the Pathways to Freedom program. In this capacity, she supports clemency advocacy and referrals for resentencing. She also represents people at their parole suitability hearings and leads EBC’s coalition work focused on parole reform.

Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, and raised in the Bay Area, Claudia is bilingual in Spanish and passionate about providing legal assistance to people in their language. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, San Francisco.

Previously, Claudia served as class counsel representing incarcerated individuals in several class action lawsuits addressing disability access and medical care. Before that Claudia advocated for detained undocumented minors in immigration proceedings.

Outside of her legal work, Claudia enjoys listening to music, reading, traveling, and caring for her many plants. She lives in East Oakland.
